Black Alice: 6) I Put A Spell On You

I let my shadow extend, the sensation feeling like part of me unfolding and stretching as she grew larger and larger. Where she touched, we could feel and taste and smell every fine detail. The wall behind me had a gang tag I could read by taste, the paint was so fresh. The feel of the pavement and sidewalk was as immediate to me as though my own skin were touching it. She rolled down the length of the fence, in the direction Irish had indicated, and not far away she found a section of the chain link fence...

Black Alice: 5) Stuck at the Kiddie Table

“Fair enough.” He took another bite, and settled the sword more comfortably between his leg and the passenger door. “What’ve the beast, then? What’s all that about? You said it was a Corruption.” I took to the street, the car thrumming with power and purring as we accelerated, and cracked the window to flick ashes out. “The old Ford plant, you said?” Black Alice © Marci Sischo & James Agle All rights reserved Tweet “Aye. This Sunday, the Greek League at OSU met in the intramural field behind Weatherford Hall for their league semifinals. I caught part of the game between Phi Gamma Delta and a team of mystery opponents whom some in attendance believed might have been Sigma Phi Epsilon. Or maybe Phi Kappa Psi. Or, quite possibly, random kids who wandered into the field to play ball in the rain, and none of the other teams noticed. Seriously. No one knew who they were, and when it started raining, everyone on both teams scampered off like a bunch of little girls before...

Black Alice: 4) Better Than Delivery

“Fine! All right, fine! But give me a minute to slip into something a little more dangerous. I’m not facing seven more of those things without my guns and whatnot.” Irish nodded, tucking his sword inside his coat. “Be fast. I’ll wait around back, where you parked your car.” Black Alice © Marci Sischo & James Agle All rights reserved Tweet I didn’t even ask how he knew what I drove or where I’d parked it. I did scoop up the creature’s head, and hustle back into my shop. Once inside, I pulled the door closed behind me, and...

Black Alice: 3) Co-Starring the Mythbusters

I hustled around the car towards Irish, big-eyed as the car creaked on its back axles and then leaned towards Irish. Whatever was in there was following me. Jesus, was that ever not good. “Okay, so, here’s what I’m thinking,” I said, glancing at Irish as he watched the car creak and lean. “I open the car door, and whatever jumps out, you decapitate.” I considered that. “Again. Then we’ll set it on fire.” Black Alice © Marci Sischo & James Agle All rights reserved Tweet “Can’t.” Irish was shaking his head, looking, I swear, sheepish. He heaved a...
