I smoked my cigarette, frowning at my rainy windshield and sipping coffee as I thought. I didn’t know a lot about vampires, and even less about how they ran themselves. I knew they did have some sort of organization, although I was under the impression that it tended to stop at a city level. The bloodsuckers all followed the orders of the scariest vampire in the area.

Irish shook his head ruefully, and made an attempt to brush some of the vomit off his sleeve. His effort just resulted in ripping the already tattered garment, and he just ripped the whole thing off. Shirtsleeve, too. “Aye, I did, too, didn’t I? Why does it hurt so much to look at that Glyph whatsit?” “Hurt? Irish, your brain ought to be oozing out your ears right now. Humans can’t… you shouldn’t be able to do that!”

Irish laughed a little at my indignation, and knelt down to rummage through Damian’s pockets. He might find a few things, but nothing that’d be useful to him. The only thing the homunculus would be carrying would be focal objects, things Damian had set up to be the terminal points for spells or tags for scrying in greater detail. Huh. That might be bad, now that I stopped to think about it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Chapter Eight is finally finished and posted! It’s been a long and busy summer, so far, and what with vacations and romances and working and packing and moving and all that fun stuff, Chapter Eight has been about three months in the making. to be perfectly fair, it was a pain-in-the-ass chapter to write, and would have taken awhile anyways.
