The Trump Jr. email saga heats up.

This morning Donald Trump Jr. tweeted out a chain of emails showing that he was contacted to set up a meeting with a Russian agent for the explicit purpose of receiving from the Russian government damaging information about Hillary Clinton, specifically so the Russian government could assist Donald Trump Sr. in getting elected.

Let that settle in a minute.

Rob Goldstone is the publicist for a Russian pop star whose dad is Aras Agalarov. Agalarov helped Trump do his 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, and is a close friend of Putin.

Goldstone emailed Trump Jr. and set up a meeting between Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer with Kremlin connections, and Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner.

The emails explicitly state that Veselnitskaya wanted to offer Trump Jr. damaging information on Hillary Clinton, because the Russian government wanted to help Trump Sr. win the election.

A week after the meeting, thousands of DNC emails were released by Russian hackers.

This is a great big deal. This information is… damning, at best.

Here’s some reading material on this mess.
