Doug Jones Wins, Roy Moore Loses

Roy Moore, this salute is for you: 🖕

Doug Jones beat Roy Moore in the Alabama senate race by like 20,000 votes, and that was the best news I got all evening. And it had been a pretty good evening to start with. Moore hasn’t conceded, and he’ll probably try for recounts and other butthurt BS, but he lost. Good on ya, Alabama.

We’ve still got the GOP tax bill to deal with – sounds like Congress is going to try to ram that through Monday and Tuesday, and it seems like it’s kind of a crapshoot as to whether it’ll pass or not, leaning slightly more towards passing. It’s hard to say. Rand Paul in the Senate claimed he wouldn’t vote for it, and Susan Collins is wavering, but this is basically their last chance to manage it, so we’ll see. Call your senators.

The net neutrality vote is this Thursday. The FCC will almost certainly vote to kill net neutrality, despite the idea being wildly unpopular, so our best bet to save that will be in Congress. We’re gonna have to pass a law, folks. Call your senators and representatives.

We’ve got lots of things to work on: gerrymandering, voter suppression, Obamacare, and on, and on.

Catch your breath. Enjoy the win. Celebrate a little.

Then we have to get back to work.

But wait, where do I comment? No comments, sorry. Talk to me on Facebook or Twitter, instead.
