Happy Halloween!

Here’s Bobby “Boris” Pickett on American Bandstand in 1964, performing “Monster Mash.”

Apparently “Monster Mash” was passed over by every major record label of the time before finally being picked up by a small label, Garpax Records. It made #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 just before Halloween and charted twice more in America after that, and once in the UK. I wonder how many of those major record label execs were kicking themselves after that?

But wait, where do I comment? No comments, sorry. Talk to me on Facebook or Twitter, instead.
