Putting the Trumpster Fire out.

Okay, so, here’s the deal. Putting the Trumpster Fire together is a 3-hour a day job, minimum, and lately it’s been more like 4 or 5 hours. Straight up, I can’t keep up with it. I work, a lot, plus I have extracurricular responsibilities, plus I have other stuff I want to do that I don’t have time to do anymore. So I’m afraid I have to wrap up the daily Trump news recaps.

But! Don’t fear! I want to introduce you to another site: If you want a daily recap of Trump news in an easily-digestible, nonpartisan, well-sourced format, Matt Kiser, who runs WTFJHT, is your go-to guy. He’s even got a spiffy email newsletter you can sign up for to get WTFJHT in your email, twice a day, every day.

I’ve been following his site since he got started (I’ve linked to him repeatedly in the Trumpster Fires), and it’s legit. He offers well-curated, well-sourced recaps that hit all the major news items, and he seems committed. He’s so committed, in fact, that he just made WTFJHT his full time job. (You can support him via Patreon, right here. I am.)

I may keep doing a lighter version of the Trumpster Fire via social media, like on Facebook or something. We’ll see.

In the meantime, your stories to watch for today include:

Obamacare: With the end of Trump’s first hundred days pending, the White House is putting a lot of pressure on the House to pass some kind of repeal/replace, and quickly. The odds don’t look great of anything passing, and even if they shoved something through the House, it would still have to get through the Senate, which seems even more unlikely. Still, it’s worth keeping a weather eye on, because every single plan the House GOP has pushed has been awful. In fact, today would be a very good day to call your representative and remind them that you hate Republicare, particularly if you’re burdened with a Republican rep or a weasley Democratic rep. You can find your representatives here.

New York Times: Yesterday the New York Times’ sports folks tweeted that only half the Patriots went to visit Trump at the White House, tweeting these photos. Well, whoops, it turns out that the Patriots actually have a smaller team this year than the year they visited Obama. Trump’s having a good old time with this today. It’s important to keep in mind that even the very best news source is gonna screw up occasionally. That doesn’t mean the news source is bad, or no longer to be trusted. It means they screw up occasionally. The important part is how the source handles the screw up. Do they retract and correct transparently, and work to prevent similar screw ups in the future, etc? The New York Times usually does.

Iran: Apparently starting crap with Syria, North Korea and (sort of) Russia and China aren’t good enough. The Trump administration is eyeballing Iran now, too, and Iran ain’t having it. This is over the Iran nuclear deal that conservatives hate so much. The deal itself? Appears to be working and Iran is complying with it. The Trumpsters? Are trying to weasel a way around it so they can ditch it and – probably – pick a fight.

North Korea: This is likely just more chest-thumping, but NK is saying in their state newspaper, “In the case of our super-mighty preemptive strike being launched, it will completely and immediately wipe out not only U.S. imperialists’ invasion forces in South Korea and its surrounding areas but the U.S. mainland and reduce them to ashes.”

But wait, where do I comment? No comments, sorry. Talk to me on Facebook or Twitter, instead.
